Pada majlis persaraan Pn Hjh Mariya (yang penulis panggil Kak Mariya) semalam, penulis telah diminta oleh Kelab Staf sekolah ini untuk menyampaikan ucapan bagi pihak guru-guru dan juga staf sokongan.  Walaupun pada mulanya rasa agak gementar, memandangkan ramai guru lain yang lebih mengenali beliau, namun hati ini rasa amat bangga sekali kerana diberi kepercayaan ini.

After the unpleasant experience a few years ago, of students not turning up for Raya after they repeatedly said that they would be coming, I have always held on to a close-house principle when it came to students.  It was a terrible experience when the missus and I really went all out to prepare seven chickens worth of Chicken Rice plus Cendol dessert; all done ala stalls.  When the day turned into night, and the students didn't even call to apologize, I decided they wouldn't be coming at all.  That was also the time when I decided, no more open houses for students.

Today, the Pre-University teachers organised a potluck to celebrate the retirement of one of our colleagues, Pn Hjh Mariya Ismaun.  It was not really a pot luck because we requested another colleague to cook the special dishes for today's do!

Tidak ada apa yang lebih menggembirakan seorang guru bila bekas pelajarnya datang bertamu sempena Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.  Bukannya sebelum ini tidak ada pelajar atau bekas pelajar yang datang, tapi besarnya hati terhadap kedatangan mereka sukar hendak digambarkan.

It's Wednesday, and everyone, teachers included, are in a festive mood.  Firstly because today is the last day of school before Eid and secondly, this Sunday the Muslims of this school (and all over the world!) will be celebrating Eid after one month of fasting.

Pagi ini (13hb Ogos 2012) penulis telah dimaklumkan bahawa tugas sebagai Penyelaras Kokurikulum Tingkatan 6 mulai hari ini disandang oleh rakan setugas iaitu En Azmi bin Ali.  Pertukaran yang memang sudah lama dijangka ini berlaku kerana penulis kini bertukar gred jawatan dan tidak lagi layak memegang tugas yang tersebut tadi.

Hari Isnin 13hb Ogos 2012 sekali menyaksikan bermulanya bulan Kemerdekaan untuk tahun ini.  Majlis perasmian bulan Kemerdekaan ini telah dikelolakan sepenuhnya oleh para pelajar Pra-U SMK Tuanku Abdul Rahman dengan tunjuk-ajar daripada Ketua Panitia Sejarah, Pn Siti Helena binti Malawi, yang juga merupakan salah seorang tenaga pengajar Pra-U SMKTAR.

Pagi ini beberapa orang pelajar, termasuk pelajar Pra-U, mengadakan latihan sempena Pelancanran Bulan Kemerdekaan yang akan diadakan pada hari Isnin, 13hb Ogos 2012.  Kesian jugak tengok budak-budak tu berjemur tengah panas.  Walaupun baru pukul 10.13 pagi, tapi matahari sudah terik bersinar.
