It's just two more days before the new school year re-opens and as usual, there are a lot of things to be done. I thought to myself, if students were required to clean their classrooms prior to entering their classes, teachers should then clean their common rooms too.
The Resource Centre/Meeting Room section of the Form Six teachers' common room was occupied by the Lower 6 UM class during the last few weeks of October and November. This is mainly due to the fact their classroom was opened up to become part of the hall for the STPM examination.
I suppose in their excitement to enjoy the long school holidays, they forgot to clean up the area, leaving it in a total mess with drinking bottles rolling on the floor, food packets and paper strewn all over the place and of course, dust everywhere.
So, I took it upon myself to set aside some time to go and do a little bit of clean up, not least because I expect some people from the district education office to come gallivanting for a surprise check; which they normally do during the first week of school.
And after two hours, the before/after pictures above are testament to the work I had put in. I only hope, the next time any of the classes become part of the exam hall, the classes will be located elsewhere. On a more scarier note, here's looking forward to the new school year of 2014!
